This E-portfolio for the Language component in our Englcom class is like the sum of all the lessons, practices and activities about writing essays that we've learned through this course in our first term in De La Salle University. You will see here the things we did, write and talk about in the span of time that our teacher taught us to help us in all our English components.
You will see and notice when you go through this portfolio the things I learned in my Englcom class and will help not only me but also the readers the right usage of writing English language. You can learn a lot in this portfolio. Some lessons that you may know and learn are the correct usage of grammar, mechanics, word choice, reading, right form of essays/paragraphs and a lot more. It really helped and gave me improvement in my English grammar component. Like some of the improvements I learned and mastered are making right forms of sentences, correct usage of punctuation, classifying phrases, fragments, run-on sentences, etc. These things I learned, I will surely keep it in my mind for me to use, help me and give me guidance when I write, read, speak or whenever I need it in the future.
It’s a very helpful material for me in case for my English components. You know why? It’s because everytime I need some guidance and feed back in the future, I can always look at my portfolio to help me do my work the best it can be. It will also remind me things I should remember when time comes I have to read, write or speak for people. So that I know that what I’m doing is correct and it will give me confidence to do it more because I know I’m on the right track and doing it correctly.
MY WORKS
- Descriptive Essay
High school love life is an unforgettable moment in your life that you would cherishor grieve for the rest of your life. This kind of situation will give you a lot of ‘‘first times’’experiences in your life. Going out on a date is one of the examples of this. It is not like asimple hang-out with friends but it is where you go out with your partner only with adifferent kind of environment. It is also where you had your first serious kiss, hug not just afriend but with your partner, holding hands while walking anywhere you are in public, anda lot of different kinds of sweet things that a couple do.
When you have a love life in high school it is a different kind of feeling. It is like youwant to give your all when you are in love. You are always inspired in whatever you do,you are happy and always smiling that it is like you don’t have any problems in the world. In these situations, you always like to talk and be with your partner every day. You want to give everything to him/her even the world, if you only can.
You tend to do silly things that you don’t intentionally mean to do. Like running awayfrom your house just to see your partner. You sometime answer back your parents or friendsjust because you are fighting for your love to him/her. You make love letters and picturecollages/ albums that when you broke up with your partner and you reminisce, you can’timagine that you did that. In these, you believe in the saying that, ‘‘you’ll do anything foryour love’’
- Comparison and Contrast Essay
High school love life has similarities and differences from college love life. They saythat high school love life is just an infatuation or because of peers while in college life is youare kind of matured on it. Sometimes in high school, you just want to say and be labelled asyou have a boyfriend/girlfriend. It is because it is the time in your life where you usuallymeet people with your opposite sex. You are just excited on exploring things that a couple do.And it is because of your curiosity on having a partner.
Love in high school and college both have that special feeling that you feel towardsyour partner. It is like you connect always to each other in different kinds of things. Likefavorite food, pet, color, etc. You also jive in your hobbies and interest in life. By these, you are more comfortable with each other because you both like what you are doing. It meansthat you really like and most importantly love each other not just on his/her physicalappearance but his/her qualities and personalities.
High school and college love also both have those unforgettable experiences that youwill cherish for the rest of your life. There are a lot of your ‘‘first time’’ that you and your partner did together. The memories on how you court your partner, or how a girl was courted by a guy. The movie or lunch/dinner dates. These experiences are similar to high school andcollege, which means you also do things the same towards your partner. The only differences that in college, you are more matured because you think about your future.
- Argumentative Essay
It is my understanding that this college has received a large donation to be used to enhance the quality of life for students: expand the bookstore or add computers to the computer lab. It is the tradition of this school to promote education and to be at the vanguard of new technology. That is why I strongly argue in favor of the addition of more computers to the computer lab.
Although expanding the campus bookstore to include CD's, gifts, and a snack bar will give a nicer look to the college, we have to think about a greater goal and a more practical way to enhance the quality of life for students. What do we want for our students and our college? Do we want our college to be known as a place with a great bookstore where you can find CD's and gifts, or as a place where the students can explore and research in their field using the best tools provided by technology? In addition, there are already several snack bars on campus, and there are music stores nearby, so students do not depend on the college bookstore for these things.
We live in a highly technological world and computers play an increasingly important role in how we live. As a learning institution, this college has the responsibility to offer its students the best technology to help them prepare for their future. Many students will be expected to be familiar with the latest software and other tools when they go on to work or to graduate school.
While they are in college, students find they are expected to use computers. Many professors expect students to use computers to do homework or to complete projects. Students are asked to create PowerPoint presentations and use spreadsheets and database programs, as well as to research many topics on the internet. Since students are competing for good grades, those who have limited access to computers are at a great disadvantage. Furthermore, being able to do projects using the computer enhances the process of learning, giving students the opportunity to find the information without a computer would be much more difficult to find.
If there are more computers, students will also be able to complete their work more efficiently. No more will they have to wait in line, paper and disk in hand, while scanning the room for an empty chair and computer. No longer will they have to sit and wait while an outdated computer struggles to follow their commands. Having more new and faster computers available will enable students to finish their work more quickly. The more computers are used in society the more colleges will depend on them as a tool of teaching and learning. Making computers more available to students facilitates their learning process by making the process easier, more interesting, more engaging, and in the process enhancing their quality of life.
